Two fruitful days with LIFE Hymemb in Algarve

Two fruitful days with LIFE Hymemb in Algarve

Last September, two important events for disseminating and discussing the LIFE Hymemb results were held: on the 26th, the LIFE Hymemb seminar in Alcantarilha WTP; on the 27th, the second workshop of stakeholders in Vila Sol Hotel, Vilamoura.

The LIFE Hymemb Seminar was organized by Águas do Algarve (AdA), LNEC’s project partner, and took place at Alcantarilha water treatment plant (WTP), in Algarve. The afternoon of 26th September included in-room presentations, where the project objectives, concept and main results were shared with around 40 participants from national and regional public administration, water industry and water professionals, national and regional water & environmental authorities and private companies related to the environment and water management in Portugal. The seminar also included technical visits to Alcantarilha WTP, laboratories and both powdered activated carbon/ ceramic microfiltration (PAC/MF) and powdered activated carbon/coagulation/flocculation/sedimentation (PAC/CFS) prototypes. The afternoon ended with water…and fantastic regional sweets tasting…a LIFE Hymemb treat!

On the 27th September, another promising day that fulfilled the expectations! After identifying key-role actors, constituting the stakeholders panel and meeting for the first time in Lisbon on 2014, the 2nd stakeholders workshop was held at Vila Sol Hotel, Vilamoura. The stakeholders’ workshop brought together 22 participants from Algarve and national entities related with water quality, water treatment and consumers protection policies. Relevant aspects about LIFE Hymemb project were addressed with presentations, debriefing moments and active methodologies. The contributions given by participants will assist on the assessment of intangible costs and benefits important for the cost-benefit analysis, a project deliverable, as well as to the socio-economic impact assessment, another project deliverable.
